A catwalk nestled between historic looms, lighting rigs, rails of clothes, and the sound of chatter and excitement echoing through the building. The Clothes Show – Macclesfield, hosted by Totally Locally Macclesfield, was more than just a fashion event. It was a celebration of creativity, community, and local talent, and I was lucky enough to be part of it.

I was invited by Gavin and Jenni from Rolph & Co Photography, one of Macclesfield’s most established photographers, to help behind the scenes. It was a real privilege, not just to support the event, but to be trusted with parts of the setup, lighting, and capturing some of the atmosphere throughout the day.

Although I was asked to model (which was very kind!), I’ve always felt most myself behind the camera. It’s where I love to be, noticing the details others might miss, capturing moments that happen in between the obvious ones, and helping tell the story from another angle. Supporting the show in that way felt more like me, and being part of the creative process rather than centre stage was exactly where I wanted to be.

What made it even more special was that a few of my friends were actually modelling. Seeing them walk the catwalk with such confidence, knowing we were all involved in different ways, was brilliant. There was a real buzz backstage, part nerves, part excitement, and being able to help keep things running smoothly while also snapping some of those quieter, unposed moments was what I’ll remember most.

It was the kind of event that reminds me why I want to keep doing this. Photography isn’t just about the photos. It’s about the experience, the energy, and being trusted to capture something meaningful. That night, walking home with tired feet and a full camera roll, I felt so lucky to be part of it.

I’ve included a few of my favourite photos below, and there’s also a short video from the evening here [insert link to video].

Thanks to everyone involved, especially Gavin and the Totally Locally Macclesfield team, for letting me be part of something so magical.
All profits went to East Cheshire Hospice, which made it even more worthwhile.
